Frailloop specialises in pieces of recycled steel sculpture, ideal for gardens, business parks and commercial spaces. Based in Haywood Oaks in Nottinghamshire, Frailloop is owned by Steel Sculptor, Gavin Darby. The name “Frailloop” is used to reflect Gavin’s view of the world and the fragile links that holds the environment together. Gavin's chosen medium is found metal – recycling industry waste and rubbish.
"I learnt to weld at an evening class when I wanted to make an engine cover for a narrowboat. While waiting for the teacher I got a feel for welding by making birds from the contents of the scrap bin. Boredom was taking over my day job when redundancy was offered, grabbed with both hands and art became full time."
