What is
Coalville CAN?
Coalville CAN was created to fulfil our ambition, through our connections with communities and providers, to realise the potential of Coalville and the wider LE67 area and put our town on the map! Together, we can create a place where local people are proud to live safely in good health and with high levels of aspiration and community spirit.
Our strength is our connectivity: In the diversity of partners we work with, and in the confidence that the answers lie in the people that live and work here.

Who is
Coalville CAN?
At Coalville CAN, our board of directors bring a wide variety of talents, skills and knowledge to our work, with one thing in common: A passion for their shared local areas. Click the link below to find out who's on our board, and a little about them, as well as those who work with them.
Looking to join it yourself, or just want a say in who stays on the board? Become a member to have your vote on our board of directors at our yearly annual general meetings, and get a say in any other key decisions.
Why a
Community Benefit Society?
Coalville CAN is a CBS -
A Community Benefit Society. And that's a type of
Co-operative, an organisation owned by it's members. As a CBS, we're committed to improving our local community.
While a CBS is still an enterprise, (ie, not a charity) profits don't go to a board of directors, or even the members. All excess funds are guaranteed to be reinvested into the community.
Anyone and everyone over 16 is welcome to become a member. Membership means you own a share of Coalville CAN, giving you the same say as any other member. You'll get to vote and decide on who's on our board of directors, how we reinvest our profits into the community, and any other big decisions we want to make sure we get right.
